CCTE
The Competence Centre for Theology and Ethics (CCTE) supports the Protestant Church in Switzerland and its member churches in their theological and ethical work. It brings a Protestant perspective to theological and ethical discussions at national and international level.
Theology reflects the Christian faith on the basis of academic theories and methods. Theological reflection refers to God, human and the world in an argumentative and understanding way. In the Protestant Church, theology is a function of the church. In faith, the Christian church exists and acts from God’s word. By listening to God’s word, the church brings its traditions into dialogue with contemporary social debates through academic research and public discussion. Within the church, theology is always tied back to a practice of faith.
Ethics is the presentation and criticism of social orientations. With its ethical concerns and practical commitment, the church fulfils its public responsibility.
PCS
With evrefblog.ch, the Protestant Church in Switzerland (PCS) offers access to socially relevant topics from a Christian and church perspective. The blog complements the PCS website by opening up the contributions to an interested audience for specialised discussions and making them usable in social media. In this way, we contribute to the audibility and visibility of the Protestant-Reformed Church community. evrefblog is the responsibility of the PCS Competence Centre for Theology & Ethics.
The PCS is the union of the 24 Reformed cantonal churches and the Evangelical Methodist Church. It thus represents around two million Protestants. It operates on three levels: parish, member church and church community. The PCS fulfils its social mission and stands up for justice, peace and the integrity of creation. It contributes to peace between religions and expresses the Christian faith in a contemporary way.
The PCS is managed synodally, collegially and personally by the Synod, the Council and the President. They are supported by the office based in Bern.
